Continental White Metal & Glass Dressing Table Jewellery Box. It has a silver holder which has 4 ball feet and into this sits the glass rectangular box which has a white metal rim and hinged lid. The lid is very pretty with cut off corners and an embossed floral decoration in the bottom right hand corner. The stand and the lid do have 2 hallmarks, but I cannot make them out.
Identifying Marks: If I had to describe one of them it would be of an anvil but I could be completely wrong. The other one I cannot make out at all. This was catalogued in the auction as “French” but obviously I cannot confirm this – please see images below
Dimensions: The actual box is 4.75 inches long, 3.5 inches wide and 2 inches tall, when placed in the holder it measures 2.75 inches tall
Condition: It is in good condition with no chips or cracks to the glass and overall the silver is in good condition apart from the start of a very very tiny split to one corner of the holder, but this is very small and only noticeable on close inspection
Remarks: A very pretty and useful dressing table box that would be ideal for holding all those little trinkets,nik naks and jewellery. A lovely display item that would look impressive on any dressing table. I have to describe this as white metal as I have not been able to identify the hallmarks.
