This is a beautiful Antique Solid Silver Georgian Large and Heavy Coffee Pot. It is of a slightly tapering cylindrical form and to the top half of the pot and most of the base of the spout, it has been heavily embossed with flowers and leaves. The bottom half of the body has a reeded pattern. It has a hinged lid which is domed in the centre and has a large ball finial with shaped swirls underneath and it has a mid brown wooden question mark shaped handle. As you can see in the photograph it is facing to the front with the the handle on the right, the floral pattern is uninterrupted. However if you turn the pot around with the handle pointing to the left, there is a large shaped cartouche in the centre of the floral pattern, which has an embossed border around it, and it has an engraved armorial of an armoured arm holding an arrow. The feather bit being separated from the the actual arrow. This lovely pot is made from a good guage of silver and is of a very good weight. The full set of hallmarks are at the top of the body and although they can be read, some parts are a bit rubbed. There are also two marks to the inside of the rim of the lid which are very clear which are the lion passant and the Duty Mark for George III

Dimensions: 8.25 inches tall, 10 inches wide from spout to handle, the actual body at the top is 4 inches in diameter and then it is slightly wider at the base being 4.75 inches in diameter. It weighs 808g. It does hold just under 2.25 pints (44 fl oz/1250ml)
Condition: It is in very good condition, apart from the underside of the base which has a few shallow dents, but this is minor and of course not seen unless you turn the pot upside down
Remarks: This really is a superb antique Georgian 205 year old large and heavy solid silver coffee pot, that would look impressive in any home, and when not in use makes a lovely display item. A lovely example of a good antique Georgian silver coffee pot. I have to say that my Husband has taken a particular liking to this pot, as he has been on the lookout for one for ages to keep, so please someone take the temptation away from him!!
