This is a lovely Large Antique Silver Georgian Milk /Cream Jug. It is of a boat shape with a very pretty bright cut decoration of flowers and leaves to the top part of the body. The bottom part of the jug has inverted panels, and there are two borders of dotted lines around the top and middle part of the body. The rim of the jug has a gadrooned pattern and the handle has a lined pattern to it. It stands on 4 ball feet and is made from a good guage of silver and has clear halmarks except for the makers marks which are a bit rubbed. There is an inscription to the underside of the base which reads “”I.B.C to E.B 28th October 1819″

Makers Marks: First letter of first line rubbed then “W”, first letter of 2nd line rubbed then “H” so the makers could be Thomas Walllis II & Jonathan Hayne
Dimensions: Just under 5.75 inches long including the handle, the actual body is 4.25 inches long, 3.25 inches wide and 4.25 inches tall to the top of the handle. It weighs 170g
Condition: It is in very good condition, but if I was being very critical then the base has a very slight inward crease which can be felt more than seen and just under the handle there is a little very shallow inward dent which can be seen from the inside. There is also a slight impression of one of the legs inside. Having said all of the above, it sounds far worse than it actually is and I re-iterate that these are minor and also please bear in mind that this jug is 198 years old
Remarks: This is a lovely antique Georgian solid silver milk/cream jug, of a good size and a super useable item. It will also make a very nice addition to any collection of good Georgian silver
Antique and vintage silver by its very nature has been previously used. Silver is a comparatively soft metal and a combination of many years use invariably leaves its mark. I do endeavour to describe all items accurately but do not expect any antique to be in “as new condition”.
