12 Pairs of Silver and Mother of Pearl Handled Dessert Fruit Knives and Forks. The solid silver blades of the knives and the , necks and tynes of the forks are plain in design and each piece has clear hallmarks . They each then have a lovely mother of pearl handle. This lovely set comes complete in its original fitted oak wooden case and inside the lid there is a label which reads “Primavesi Bros. Goldsmiths, Watchmakers, Opticians. Bournemouth”. Hallmarks SHEFFIELD 1930 (6 of the knives have the date letter “n” and all the forks and the other 6 knives have the date letter “m”) Silver Makers Marks: HA (Atkin Brothers).
The knives 6.75 inches long, the solid silver blades 3.75 inches long. The forks 5.5 inches long, the solid silver tynes and necks are 2.5 inches long.
The whole set is in very good condition with no damage to any of the mother of pearl handles. However if I had to be extrememly critical one of the mother of pearl handles on one of the knives is slightly offset from the vertical. There is also some very light surface scratching which is only to be expected on metal items but this is very minor and commensurate with age. The wooden case is in very good condition inside with just a couple of little scratches to the lid and the underside covering is a little worn, but obviously this is only noticed if the case is turned upside down.
This really is a lovely cased set of 12 pairs of solid silver and mother of pearl handles dessert/fruit knives and forks, that would look impressive on any dinner table.
