This is a very good Boxed Pair of French Silver Plated Fish Servers. The handles have a thread pattern and then an embossed vine leaf pattern to the terminals, which is on both sides. Also at the base of the handles to both sides is a small embossed leaf pattern. The front of the slice has an engraved and wrigglework pattern of leaves, flowers and a bow to the base. To the back of the 4 wide prongs on the fork is the same engraved and wrigglework flower and leaf pattern. These are a good and sturdy pair of fish servers which come complete in their original fitted box
Identifying Marks: The Slice is stamped with a centaur with the numbers “9″ & “0″ (I think). There is another mark witb “Ercuis” (which I believe is a good French silver and silver plate manufacturer based in Paris and is highly sought after and collectable). The Fork is stamped “96″ (I think) and then “Anezin”
Dimensions: The Slice 11.5 inches long and just under 2 inches wide at its widest point. The Fork is 9.5 inches long and 2.5 inches wide at its widest point. They weigh a total of 198g
Condition: They are in very good condition with just some light surface scratching, particularly to the slice blade, which is only to be expected on a metal item, but this is minor and commensurate with use. The box is in very good condition inside, but the outside covering is quite worn in places, but the clasp is in good working order
Remarks: This is a very good boxed pair of French silver plated fish servers, and a must for any fish eater
