This is a very pretty Boxed Antique Silver Victorian Fancy Preserve Spoon and Ladle. The preserve spoon has a pretty engraved (sort of wrigglework) flower and scrolls pattern to the shallow shaped bowl. It has a part twisted handle and then the top of the handle and the shaped and decorative terminal again have this sort of wrigglework pattern. Apart from the twisted part of the handle, the back of the spoon is plain. The sauce/cream ladle also has a very pretty engraved wrigglework pattern which goes up the whole length of the handle and then carries on in the fiddle pattern handle which also has a blank cartouche so it could be personalised. The back of the handle is plain apart from having the Old English pattern to the top. Both pieces pieces have clear hallmarks (except for the makers marks on the ladle which are a bit rubbed) and although the patterns do not match and the hallmarks are different, they fit the little box exactly

Dimensions: Ladle 4.75 inches long in total, the bowl 2 inches wide, just under 1.5 inches long and the bowl is 0.5 inches deep. The Spoon is just over 5.25 inches long in total, the bowl just under 2 inches long and 1.25 inches wide at its widest. Both pieces weigh a total of 43g
Condition: Both pieces are in very good condition, with just one little ding to the bowl of the ladle, but this is minor. The box too is in good condition
Remarks: A very pretty cased antique solid silver Victorian preserve spoon and ladle, both very useable pieces. If you did not want to keep it for yourself, it would make a lovely Engagement, Wedding or Silver Wedding present
Antique and vintage silver by its very nature has been previously used. Silver is a comparatively soft metal and a combination of many years use invariably leaves its mark. I do endeavour to describe all items accurately but do not expect any antique to be in “as new condition”.
