Butter Dish In Silver Hallmarked Birmingham 1941. This pretty silver dish comes complete with its frosted glass liner, which is also shell shaped. It stands on 3 ball feet and is made from a good guage of silver and has clear hallmarks
Assay Office: BIRMINGHAM
Date: 1941/42
Makers Marks: SLd (William Suckling Ltd)
Dimensions: Just under 4 inches long at its longest point, 3.25 inches wide at its widest point and the silver (without the liner) weighs 46g
Condition: It is in very good condition, and there are no chips or cracks in the liner
Remarks: This is a very good solid silver butter dish, complete with its glass liner. Please see the butter knives that I have listed in the Cutlery & Sets section of my ebay shop, that would be perfect to use with this little dish
Antique and vintage silver by its very nature has been previously used. Silver is a comparatively soft metal and a combination of many years use invariably leaves its mark. I do endeavour to describe all items accurately but do not expect any antique to be in “as new condition”.
