This is a very good Cased Antique Solid Silver Shell Shape Butter Dish and Matching Butter Knife. This pretty silver shell shape dish comes complete with its shell shaped frosted glass liner, and also a matching solid silver butter knife which has the Old English pattern to the front of the handle. It stands on 3 ball feet and is made from a good guage of silver and both the dish and the knife have clear hallmarks. It comes in its original deep blue lined box

Date: The dish has the date letter (f) for 1905/06 and the knife the date letter (g) for 1906/07
Makers Marks: W.D (William Devenport)
Dimensions: The dish is 4.75 inches long at its longest and just under 4 inches wide at its widest point. The knife is 4.5 inches long. The total weight of silver (without the liner) is 59g
Condition: It is in very good condition, and there are no chips or cracks in the liner. The box too is in good condition inside with just a little raised crinkled line to the outside of the box where I think that the covering has come unstuck, but this is very very minor
Remarks: This is a very good boxed antique solid silver butter dish, complete with its glass liner and butter knife. A very good useable item that would look impressive on any table and if you did not want to keep it for yourself, it would make a very good present
Antique and vintage silver by its very nature has been previously used. Silver is a comparatively soft metal and a combination of many years use invariably leaves its mark. I do endeavour to describe all items accurately but do not expect any antique to be in “as new condition”.
