Antique Silver Georgian Tankard Hallmarked London 1766. It is of a baluster shape and the body is heavily embossed with a flowers and leaves. It has a spreading raised circular base which has an engraved pattern around the rim. It has a large shaped cartouche which is surrounded by embossed scrolls and in the middle has an engraved armorial of an eagle/griffin's head on top of a crown. It has a leaf capped question mark shaped handle and is made from a good guage of silver and therefore of a very good weight. It has clear hallmarks except for the makers marks which are a little rubbed

Dimensions: Just over 5 inches tall, 5 inches wide including the handle, 3.5 inches in diameter at its widest point ,the top diameter just over 3.25 inches and the diameter of the base just under 3.75 inches. It weighs 340g. It holds just under a pint, 19 fl oz to be exact
Condition: It is in very good condition, but there is of course some very light surface scratching, which is only to be expected on a metal item, but this is minor and commensurate with age and use and particulary in this case its 245 years of age
Remarks: This is a very good antique Georgian solid silver tankard and a super addition to any collection of Georgian silver
