This is a very good Set of 6 Silver Handled Dessert Knives. The silver hollow handles have a thread pattern following the outline of the handles to both sides and a pretty shell terminal, again on both sides. All the handles have clear hallmarks and the date letter used for this year is the same as the date letter for 1773 to commemorate the bicentenary of the Sheffield Assay Office, but in a different outer shape to avoid confusion. The blades are steel
Assay Office: SHEFFIELD
Date: 1973/74
Makers Marks: AJS
Dimensions: 8.75 inches long in total, the silver handles 4 inches long
Condition: They are in very good condition with just some light surface scratching, which is only to be expected on metal items, but this is minor and commensurate with age and use
Remarks: This is a very good set of 6 silver handles dessert knives and ideal if you wish to add to or start a collection of cutlery in this pattern. I do also have an identical set of 6 dinner/table knives listed, so please do not miss them
Antique and vintage silver by its very nature has been previously used. Silver is a comparatively soft metal and a combination of many years use invariably leaves its mark. I do endeavour to describe all items accurately but do not expect any antique to be in “as new condition”.
