8 Pretty Continental 800 Standard Silver (Possibly German) Art Nouveau Style Tea Or Fruit Knives. They have a pretty embossed flower and swirl pattern to the front of the hollow rounded handles. The shaped blades have a curved pointed tip and a pretty engraved leaf pattern to the front (the back of the knives are completely plain). The blades were originally gilded, as there are still some remains, but most of it has now worn off. They have 2 entwined fancy letters engraved in the top of the handles which I think are “BT”. The “B” has a lined textured finish, the “T” is plain. The rather distorted marks are very small and appear on the collars and are quite difficult to read
Identifying Marks: As stated above, they are quite difficult to read, but I can make out “800″ and possibly the German crown and half moon, but I cannot confirm. I also cannot confirm their age, but they definitely are not modern
Dimensions: 6.5 inches long in total and the handles are 3 inches long
Condition: They are in good condition, with just a couple of little pit marks on a couple of the blades, but these are minor. They do have some light surface scratching which is only to be expected on metal items and is commensurate with age and use
Remarks: A very pretty set of 8 continental 800 standard silver Art Nouveau style tea/fruit knives that would compliment any table setting, or ideal with afternoon tea and cakes
Antique and vintage silver by its very nature has been previously used. Silver is a comparatively soft metal and a combination of many years use invariably leaves its mark. I do endeavour to describe all items accurately but do not expect any antique to be in “as new condition”.
