Antique Georgian Silver & Wooden Handled Toddy Ladle. The cauldron shaped bowl is of a good size and has a gadrooned pattern around the overhanging top rim. It has a long slender solid silver neck and then a long wooden handle which has a part twisted pattern at the top, which is then finished with a silver coloured tip. It has clear hallmarks which are stamped in the base of the bowl, except for the makers marks which are completely rubbed apart from the remains of the base of two letters
Assay Office: LONDON
Date: 1786/87
Makers Marks: Rubbed
Dimensions: 14.5 inches long in total. The bowl is 2.5 inches in diameter and 1 inch deep
Condition: There is one very minor dent to the bowl, and just a little light surface scratching, but this is only to be expected on a silver item and is commensurate with its 225 years old. The long wooden handle is a little bent towards the top, but again this is minor
Remarks: A very good example of an antique Georgian solid silver toddy ladle. A very useable item and a nice piece of antique Georgian silver for any collector
Antique and vintage silver by its very nature has been previously used. Silver is a comparatively soft metal and a combination of many years use invariably leaves its mark. I do endeavour to describe all items accurately but do not expect any antique to be in “as new condition”.
