Antique Silver Salts

antique silver salts IMG 9051 300x103 Antique Silver SaltsAntique Silver Salts. This is a very good Pair of Large Antique Victorian Georgian Style Solid Silver Salts.  They are of a compressed circular shape and heavily embossed with flowers and leaves.  Each have a shaped cartouche which is still blank so they could be personalised. They have a gadrooned pattern around the shaped top rim and they each have 3  shell capped paw feet. When they were made the interiors were gilded and although and there is still some faint remains of this, most of it has now faded.    They are made from a good guage of silver and have clear hallmarks.

Assay Office:    LONDON

Date:               1860/61

Makers Marks: RH (Robert Harper)

Dimensions:     They are 2.5 inches in diameter and they are 1.5 inches tall.  They weigh a total of 117g

Condition:   One has a few very small pin prick dings to the base.  They both do have some surface scratching to the interiors, and the cartoche on one has a small ding in it.  All this sounds far worse than it actually is, but I do try to describe my items as accurately as possible.

Remarks:   A very good pair of antique Victorian solid silver large salts that could also be used for mustard and also because of their size, they would make ideal little dishes for serving small amounts of cranberry, horseraddish, mint, apple, tartare sauce etc.

Non EU buyers are reminded they are liable for any local customs duties or tax.
