Antique Georgian (George II) Silver Sauceboat. It is quite small, but heavy and is very decorative. It has an embossed flower and scroll pattern to the sides and to one side there is a blank cartouche which could be personalised. The other side has the embossed pattern all the way round. It has a flying leaf capped scroll handle and it stands on 4 shaped pad feet. It is made from a good guage of silver and has clear hallmarks, except for the makers marks which are a bit distored. It does have “M.H D” engraved on the underside of the base
Assay Office: LONDON
Date: 1752/53
Makers Marks: W.B (I think) so it possibly be Walter Brind
Dimensions: 5 inches long from lip to handle. Just under 2.75 inches wide and 3 inches tall to the top of the handle. It weighs 103g
Condition: It is in very good condition
Remarks: This really is a lovely, good quality, small, heavy and decorative antique Georgian solid silver sauce boat, that would look very sweet and impressive on any table filled with cranberry, mint, tartare, horsraddish, mint, apple sauce etc
Antique and vintage silver by its very nature has been previously used. Silver is a comparatively soft metal and a combination of many years use invariably leaves its mark. I do endeavour to describe all items accurately but do not expect any antique to be in “as new condition”.
