This is a very good Solid Silver Sauce Boat. It has a deep body with a wide lip and an oval pedestal base. It has a pretty beaded decoration around the top rim, the rim of the pedestal base and down the full length of the handle. It is made from a good guage of silver and has clear hallmarks
Assay Office: SHEFFIELD
Date: 1935/36
Makers Marks: W & H (Walker & Hall)
Dimensions: 6.25 inches long from lip to handle, just over 3 inches wide at tis widest point and 4 inches tall, to the top of the handle. It weighs 111g
Condition: It is in very good condition apart from a couple of very very minor pin prick size dings and a little area of the beaded decoration around the top is a little rubbed, but this is only noticed on very close inspection. As with all metal items, there is a little surface scratching but this is minor and commensurate with age and use
Remarks: This is a very good solid silver sauceboat that would look impressive on any table filled with horseraddish, cranberry, mint, tartare, apple sauce etc. It would be complete with a solid silver sauce ladle so please take a look at the ones I have listed in the “Ladles” section of my shop
Antique and vintage silver by its very nature has been previously used. Silver is a comparatively soft metal and a combination of many years use invariably leaves its mark. I do endeavour to describe all items accurately but do not expect any antique to be in “as new condition”.
