This is an example of a super and very impressive Sterling Silver & Gilt 6 Piece Large Serving Set. It consists of 1 Soup/Punch Ladle, 1 Gravy Ladle, 1 Large Egg Shaped Bowl Serving Spoon and 1 Smaller Egg Shaped Bowl Serving Spoon, 1 Pastry/Cake Slice and 1 Very Large Headed 5 Joined Flat Pronged Serving Fork (ideal for serving Fish or Large Slices of Meat). Each piece has very decorative edges to the handles which continues to run along the top of each bowl/fork and this is mirrored on the back Each piecee has a gilt lined interior to the bowls/slice and the cake slice and the large serving fork also have this gilding to the back.

Each piece is fully marked and I believe this is the mark of the Whiting Manufacturing Co. founded in North Attleboro, Massachusetts in 1866. Purchased in 1926 by the Gorham Co. and relocated to Providence, Rhode Island

Identifying Marks: Each piece is stamped with a lion and letter “w” to the left Sterling Pat. 1891″

Dimensions: The large Soup/Punch Ladle is 13 inches long, the bowl 4.25 inches wide and just under 3.5 inches long and 1.25 inches deep. The Gravy Ladle is 7 inches long, the bowl 2.75 inches wide, 2 inches long and 1 inch deep. The Large Serving Spoon 9 inches long, the bowl 3.75 inches long and 2.75 inches wide. The Smaller Serving Spoon 7.5 inches long, the bowl 3 inches long and 2.25 inches wide. The Large Serving Fork 10 inches long, the head being 4.5 inches long and 3.25 inches wide. The Cake/Pastry Slice 9.25 inches long, the actual slice being 5 inches long and 2.25 inches wide. The total weigh all the pieces is 20 oz (585g)
