Silver Sifter Ladle Georgian Hallmarks London 1828 By Jonathan Hayne
This is an extremely pretty Antique Georgian Solid Silver Gilt Sifter Ladle/Spoon. It has a circular bowl which has an embossed large flower in the centre which has the sifter holes in it and then there are smaller embossed flowers surrounding it. The handle too is very decorative with an engraved flower, having an oval blank cartouche at the top. The back of the handle also has an engraved decoration to it. It has very clear hallmarks.
Assay Office: LONDON
Date: 1828/29
Makers Marks: JH (Jonathan Hayne)
Dimensions: 5 inches long in total, the bowl just over 1.25 inches in diameter. It weighs 17g
Condition: It is in very good condition
Remarks: This really is a very pretty antique Georgian 183 year old solid silver gilt sifter ladle, ideal for use or a very decorative addition to any collection of good Georgian silver
Antique and vintage silver by its very nature has been previously used. Silver is a comparatively soft metal and a combination of many years use invariably leaves its mark. I do endeavour to describe all items accurately but do not expect any antique to be in “as new condition”.
