Exeter Silver Set of 6 Antique Victorian Teaspoons Hallmarked 1867. They have a fiddle pattern handle with the Old English pattern to the back. They do have 2 very fancy entwined initials which I think are “WP” but as they are so fancy I am not sure. They are made from a good guage of silver and have clear hallmarks
Assay Office: EXETER
Date: 1867/68
Makers Marks: JW & JW (Josiah Williams U& Co – James & Josiah Williams)
Dimensions: 5.25 inches long in total, the bowls just under 1.75 inches long and 1 inch wide at their widest point. They weigh a total of 107g
Condition: One of the tips of the bowls is quite worn and I have to say that it looks as if it has been used to prise something open. There is also a little bit of wear to the tip of one other (please see the photograph). The rest are in very good condition. There is however some light surface scratching, which is only to be expected on a metal item, but this is minor and commensurate with their 144 years of age and use
Remarks: This is a good set of 6 antique Victorian solid silver teaspoons, ideal for use and will be of particular interest to collector of Exeter silver
Antique and vintage silver by its very nature has been previously used. Silver is a comparatively soft metal and a combination of many years use invariably leaves its mark. I do endeavour to describe all items accurately but do not expect any antique to be in “as new condition”.
