Tea Infusing Spoon Hallmarks London 1893

Tea Infusing Spoon Hallmarks London 1893 150x150 Tea Infusing Spoon Hallmarks London 1893Tea Infusing Spoon Hallmarks London 1893.  This is a very good Antique Solid Silver Victorian Tea Infusing Spoon. The deep egg shaped bowl has long slits in it for the flavour to come out and it is opened by twisting the little ring that holds the shorter handle tight to the main handle and then twisting it up tight again to close. It has a long plain handle and it has crisp clear hallmarks. On one side of the handle it is stamped with a series of letters (the first one I can’t quite make out but the other letters are “EAETTE” and”Patent 5594″ (please see photograph)

Assay Office: LONDON

Date: 1893

Makers Marks: GG (Possibly George Gray)

Dimensions: 5.5 inches long, the bowl 1.75 inches long, 1.5 inches wide at its widest point and 1 inch deep. It weighs 22g

Condition: It is in very good condition

Remarks: A very good antique Victorian solid silver tea infusing spoon and a very interesting collectors item

Antique and vintage silver by its very nature has been previously used. Silver is a comparatively soft metal and a combination of many years use invariably leaves its mark. I do endeavour to describe all items accurately but do not expect any antique to be in “as new condition”
