Tea Strainer

teastrainerThis is an unsual and very pretty French Silver Tea Strainer. It is a pail/bucket shape with a very pretty engraved scroll and leaf pattern around the top part and it is gilt inside. The base also has a pretty pattern for the liquid to flow through. It comes with a wire support that condenses when fitted into the spout of a teapot. You pour the tea and the leaves are collected in the strainer. It could also be used without the wire and just used as a normal tea strainer held over a cup.

Identifying Marks: It is fully marked with the French Export Marks with the head of Mercury with a 950 standard of silver and it also has the makers marks of L & C

Dimensions: It is just under 2 inches in diameter and just under 1.25 inches tall (handle down) and then when the handle is held upright it is just over 2.25 inches tall. The wire insert is 2 inches long. It weighs 24g (without the wire)

Condition: It is in very good condition with just very minor surface scratching which is only to be expected on a useable metal item and also a couple of very very small digs to the rim of the base, but these are very small and really only noticeable on very close inpsection

Remarks: This really is a super interesting and pretty french silver item and ideal for use or it will be a lovely addition to any collection
