This is a rare Large Antique Solid Silver Mounted Victorian Leather Desk Blotter. The leather blotter when folded closed has been mounted with an embossed flower and scroll silver pattern to the front and there are also 4 separate rectangular pierced patterns. There is a large blank shaped cartouche in the middle so it could be personalised. The back has been covered with a green baize. Open it up and it has a piece of cream coloured blotting paper which could well be the original, but if not, appears to be very old.

Dimensions: 12.5 inches long and 10.5 inches wide when in the closed position and when opened up flat measures 20.25 inches wide and 12.5 inches long. The total weight of this blotter is 914g
Condition: The leather on the blotter is well worn, but the mounted silver is in good conditon with just a couple of little minor dings to the raised cartouch. As stated above the old piece of blotting paper inside is also a bit scruffy at the edges and there are water marks on it and it has come away from the back of the leather, however I did not want to put a new piece of blotting paper in it as I wanted to sell it in its original state, but just by putting a new piece of blotting paper in it would smarten it up
Remarks: This really is a super antique solid silver Victorian 115 year old mounted leather desk blotter that would look impressive on any desk and a very useable item. It would also make a very unusual addition to any collection of Victorian silver or it would be of particular interest to collectors of desk top items
Antique and vintage silver by its very nature has been previously used. Silver is a comparatively soft metal and a combination of many years use invariably leaves its mark. I do endeavour to describe all items accurately but do not expect any antique to be in “as new condition”.
